-Kirk Douglas was not a good idea. How was that conceived in pre-production? "I got an idea, let's get Kirk Douglas to give away one of the most prestigious awards this year. I mean how bad can it be to have an extremely old stroke survivor ten minutes on screen." I'll take odds you see him "In Memoriam" next year.
-Melissa Leo wins supporting actress. No problem with that, and she looks markedly better when you take her out of Lowell. Her biggest worry was probably not tripping Skeletor, I mean Kirk Douglas on her way off stage. I did think Amy Adams was the better character in the movie but either one of them was a fine choice.
-Mila Kunis is super hot. I imagine most women would let her go down on them.
-Did they put Josh Brolin and Javier Bardem together because they both have hot older women wives? An excuse to show Penelope Cruz more? Probably for both reasons.
-Russell Brand and Helen Mirren presenting together. All this did was piss me off that they remade "Arthur". If you haven't seen the original with Dudley Moore do yourselves a favor and watch it, brilliant comedy.
-Christian Bale deserved to win he was great in "The Fighter", a Welshman pulling off a dirty crackhead with a Lowell/Boston accent is worth the award alone. The academy was also probably a little scared that if some other nominee won Bale may beat and berate him on stage for an uncomfortably long period of time.
-Trent Reznor, the man who famously sang, "I want to fuck you like an animal. You get me closer to God" has an Oscar. This makes me happy.
-I like that Inception was winning for effects and sound. It was my favorite of the year and thought Nolan should have won best director, at least nominated. Maybe the third Batman will finally get him notice from the academy........He's the best there is right now. His movies are awesome and he deserves all credit that he gets bestowed on him.
-I find Cate Blanchett homely. I don't like her.
-Helena Bonham Carter went with a new fashion accessory this year, large boobs on her chin.
-Finds Florence Welch of Florence and the Machine to look like Florence the Tranny.
-Tom Hooper, best director of the year. Might be the biggest heap of shit win this year. Fincher made Facebook more interesting than it is, Aronofsky got me to enjoy a movie about a ballet dancer and Nolan wasn't nominated. Thank god another period piece director got some hardware.
-You think Warren Beatty convinced Annette Bening to try a threesome as "research" for The Kids are All Right? I think he did.
-Natalie Portman is an awesome actress. She made a crazy ballerina ever so interesting. I thought Jennifer Lawrence could have won, Winter's Bone was awesome, she did a great job.
-Colin Firth was great as the king who stammered. The acting in a King's Speech was exceptional but the movie wasn't that good. Him winning this is fair, I probably would have given it to Jesse Eisenberg. Not for The Social Network but for his acting skills in Zombieland, even if that came out last year.
-Oscar nominated movies that I liked better than the King's Speech:
1) Inception
2) Black Swan
3) The Social Network
4) Winter's Bone
5) The Fighter
6) True Grit.
I didn't see 127 Hours or Toy Story 3 but I bet they were better. The only movie the King's Speech was better than was The Kids are All Right, which I didn't like at all. Speech is a good movie but they could have done so much more with a king on the verge of entering World War II with the Nazis. Not the best movie of the year, the six nominated films above were better. Great acting doesn't always mean the best movie or director. I'm growing to hate English period pieces more and more by the year. Can't wait for the next chapter, "Prince Charles: I am not an Elephant even with these Gigantic Ears."
Quick note on hosting duties for James Franco and Anne Hathaway. Barely noticed them. Weren't really that big a part for the show. They did fine but bring back Steve Martin. Anne Hatahaway is one heck of a looker though.
